Defense wins the day in Tennessee spring game

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee concluded its 2016 spring practice Saturday with the defense beating the offense 70-63 in the Orange and White game. There was an announced crowd of 67,027; that ranks third all-time for an Orange and White games, and gives Butch Jones-coached teams four of the top five.

The Vols use a special scoring system for the spring game, and the day started with the “circle of life” drill before getting into 11-on-11 action. There was a quarterback accuracy competition before the half, as well as one-on-matchups between receivers and defensive backs as well as between offensive and defensive linemen.
